College awards life fellowships

The College of Optometrists awarded two life fellowships and an honorary fellowship at its diploma ceremony this week.

The two new life fellows, who have been celebrated for their contribution to the profession, were Ruth Brough and Professor Jennifer Craig. Brough was recognised for her contribution to the development and implementation of the scheme of registration, while Prof Craig was praised for her teaching and education, especially in the area of ocular surface disease.

The honorary award went to James Russell, who has helped to build a collaboration between optometrists and dispensing opticians, strengthening greater cross-professional working.
