College updates final year students on Scheme for Registration

The College of Optometrists has provided an update on the Scheme for Registration

An update for final-year optometry students on the Scheme for Registration has been provided by the College of Optometrists in recognition of the uncertainty undergraduates currently face.

The College highlighted that it has worked with the Optometry Schools Council (OSC), which represents each university, to seek to ensure that students can graduate this summer and progress onto the Scheme for Registration.

The proposal, which has been agreed to in principle by the GOC, is that students who achieve a 2.2 or higher, should be eligible to enrol on the Scheme even if they have some outstanding core competencies or patient episodes because of disruption to their studies.
