Coronavirus advice issued by AOP and College of Optometrists

Information from health authorities has been highlighted

Advice on coronavirus (Covid-19) procedures has been issued for eye care practitioners concerned about how to manage the situation in practice.

The Association of Optometrists (AOP) and the College of Optometrists highlighted in their respective advice that UK health authorities are providing the latest information on the outbreak.

Basic hygiene procedures such as handwashing, respiratory hygiene and disinfecting the practice were shared by the AOP, as well as what to do if there is good reason to suspect a patient has coronavirus.

The AOP also said that it is acceptable to advise patients with cold or flu-like symptoms to rebook their appointment but noted that it is unlikely that a patient with these symptoms will have the coronavirus.
