Essilor buys online contact lens retailer Vision Direct

Essilor International has announced the acquisition of online contact lens retailer Vision Direct Group.

The web retailer had revenue of around £33 million in 2015, and does the majority of its business in the UK and Ireland, according to an Essilor statement.

Vision Direct’s existing management team was to remain in place, and it follows the Dutch company’s acquisition by GetLenses.co.uk in 2014.
