​Optical group named as one of the 100 Most Innovative Companies

Optical group Essilor has been named in the Forbes 100 Most Innovative Companies for the sixth time.

Essilor said it invested more than €200m per year in research and innovation, with three innovation and technology centres staffed by 500 researchers globally. Its R&D included presbyopia, well-being and visual health, polarised and photochromic lenses and online sales, a statement said.

Jean Carrier, chief operating officer of Essilor International, said: ‘Innovation has always been a cornerstone of our strategy. We have one goal: to push back the frontiers of poor vision worldwide.’

Eyezen lenses and Transitions Signature VII adaptive lenses were noted as examples of innovative technology by Essilor.
