Essilor marked 25 years of Crizal Innovation with the launch of the anti-reflective Crizal Sapphire UV lens during a special innovation event for practitioners at the Vox Birmingham, the day before Optrafair.
The company said the new lens had broken the traditional compromise between anti-reflective (AR) performance and UV protection, offering ESPF 35 protection and providing relief for vision plagued by invasive light.
‘More than 80% of spectacle wearers experience reflections and 50% are bothered by them,’ said commercial director Randeep Gill, pictured left. ‘Reflections come from many new sources – more office lighting, light pollution in cities and the emergence of outdoor digital screens. Wearers have to adjust their head and/or posture or remove their eyewear to cope with modern glare.’
