Eye Pod tours the UK

A futuristic pod touring the UK to raise awareness of eye conditions spent a day docked outside the General Optical Council last week.

The RNIB’s Eye Pod was stationed outside the GOC’s Harley Street headquarters, with Council members invited on board during the course of the day.

The pod’s giant mechanical eyes filmed simulation videos of the surrounding area to demonstrate the symptoms of AMD, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy and cataract.

GOC chair Gareth Hadley said: ‘My Council colleagues and our staff all found it to be a fascinating experience.’ The Eye Pod was headed for Birmingham next, before a final stop in Wiltshire.
