Fight for Sight reveals four in 10 Brits have or know someone with sight loss

Research by Fight for Sight has revealed that four in 10 Brits either have or know someone with significant sight loss.

The online poll by YouGov also found that 33% of those people have experienced mental health problems and that 84% of people are more afraid of losing their sight than any other sense, with 40% worrying that this would result in them not being fully independent.

Director of Research at Fight for Sight Dr Neil Ebenezer said: ‘This research is sadly unsurprising. That’s why Fight for Sight is keen to raise awareness of the personal impact of sight loss and the need for more research into conditions like age-related macular degeneration, which can often severely affect people’s quality of life. In order to develop new treatments, we need more research.’
