GOC appoints three new doctors to statutory advisory committees

The General Optical Council (GOC) has appointed three new doctors to its statutory advisory committees.

Beginning their roles on March 3, the trio will provide expert advice on key areas of the GOC’s work, such as how it links with medicine and the work of doctors.

Dr Wayne Lewis has been appointed to the organisation’s Companies and Investigations Committees. He was involved in medical education until 2010 when he took on a performance assessment role with the General Medical Council.

Joining the GOC’s Standards Committee is Dr Cecilia Fenerty, who is currently a consultant ophthalmic surgeon at Manchester Royal Eye Hospital.

Meanwhile, former optometrist Dr Imran Jawaid has been allocated to the Education Committee.
