​Increased UVB exposure reduces risk of myopia, says study

Increased UVB exposure from time outdoors and sunlight reduces the risk of myopia, according to a new study published in Jama Ophthalmology.

Researchers at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine found the most effective age range for the risk to be reduced was between 14 and 29 years old.

Participants aged 65 and over from six centres of the European Eye Study took part in the study, which included an eye examination, blood sample and an interview by a trained fieldworker using a structured questionnaire.
