DO erased after sexual assault

Norfolk-based DO Jeremy Simeons has been struck off

Norfolk-based dispensing optician Jeremy Simeons has been erased from General Optical Council registers following a conviction and custodial sentence for sexually assaulting a girl under the age of 13 in 2019.

Simeons, who has worked at Specavers and Boots Opticians practices in Norwich, assaulted the young girl during the night while she attended a sleepover. He was convicted in May 2020 and sentenced to two years imprisonment and ordered to sign the sex offenders’ register for 10 years.

In submissions to the fitness to practise panel, Simeons claimed he had only pleaded guilty on the advice of his legal team and that he did not pose a risk to patients, which the committee said demonstrated a clear lack of remorse and insight.
