Hakim Group's new webinar series has featured discussions on wellbeing during coronavirus

Personal development and wellbeing are on the agenda of Hakim Group’s new series of webinars for optical professionals during the coronavirus pandemic.

Coach and author Steve Head started the four-week programme on April 14 with former British athlete turned motivational speaker Kriss Akabusi.

Head discussed coping mechanisms and how to implement his 149 mindset, highlighting techniques that people can use to help with stress.

Speaking during the webinar, Head said: ‘We always become the way that we act’ before recommending the practise of focusing on something good from each day before going to bed in order to retrain the brain.

Akabusi empathised with practitioners who are seeing patients in practice during the pandemic and shared the challenges he experienced from his time in the army.

A second webinar on April 16 titled ‘Grounded to great again’ focused on managing this period successfully with professional speaker and writer on motivation and goalsetting, Gerry Duffy.

Speaking about how practitioners can use their minds and time during isolation, Duffy said: ‘Our mind is our greatest strength. However, it can hinder us as we are challenged with Covid-19.’ He shared time management strategies and recommended setting goals in order to get the most of the time available.

The webinar series continues tomorrow evening (April 21) with coach, poet and speaker, Juliette Lee, who will present 'Making wise choices in uncertain times.'
