With tennis fever gripping the nation for its customary two-week spell, sunglass company Maui Jim hosted a coaching clinic at the Wimbledon Club last weekend.

Former world number one Martina Hingis demonstrated various technical aspects of the sport, helped by the expert input of Patrick Mouratoglou, best known as coach to Serena Williams. Also taking part was 2016 French Open champion Garbiñe Muguruza, pictured, who is a contender for the ladies singles title at Wimbledon.

In addition to underlining its sport credentials, Maui Jim used the day to announce an extended relationship with eye charity Optometry Giving Sight.

‘We are pledging additional financial support for this important cause,’ said Martijn van Eerde, director of marketing Europe at Maui Jim.

‘We understand the importance of sight and the profound effect an eye examination and spectacles can have one someone’s life.

‘With this in mind, for each pair of sunglasses sold at Maui Jim’s sporting events, the brand will help provide access to vision care for a child in need. This support will run for the next 12 months, kicking-off today at the Maui Jim Wimbledon Pop Up Shop, with the goal to provide access to vision care for 6,000 children by the end of the term.’
