Nystagmus awareness day celebrated

The Nystagmus Network celebrated ‘Step Up for Nystagmus’, an exercise challenge which aimed to raise awareness of the eye condition on June 20.
The challenges included committing to walking up and down stairs for 15 minutes a day and walking 15 minutes each day to fundraise and highlight visual impairment-friendly stairs.
Hanni Heather, Nystagmus Network information support officer and a sufferer of nystagmus herself, said: ‘Good contrast, marked steps and well fitted handrails all make life that little bit easier for someone with nystagmus and help us to be confident and independent within our community. Talking about nystagmus is the best way to raise awareness of it.’
