Obituary: Dr Rachel Lewis

Dr Rachel Lewis has died aged 53

Optician is sad to report the death of Dr Rachel Lewis (neé Deacon) who died peacefully at home shortly after her 53rd birthday surrounded by family.

Dr Lewis completed her pre-reg year at St Paul’s Eye Hospital in Liverpool and worked evenings and weekends at an optical practice in Brents Cross shopping centre to fund her degree in medicine.

She qualified as a GP in 2003 but maintained her love of optometry and continued to gain her CET points every year until recently.

Dr Lewis was described as a ‘true Yorkshire woman’ who loved a mug of Yorkshire tea, a cream cake and a bag of liquorice allsorts. She leaves her husband Richard and children Ailsa, Natasha and Thomas.
