Fifth of passengers on Vision Express’ Vision Van had never been for eye test

A fifth of passengers aboard Vision Express’ Vision Van last month had never been for an eye test before – but a record number booked up as part of campaigning.

The Vision Van embarked on a road trip for National Eye Health Week (September 18-24), when it visited Nottingham, Milton Keynes, Portsmouth, Swindon and Cardiff.

Almost three-quarters of those tested on the Vision Van had an out of date prescription, and 9% were referred for further medical attention.

As part of the campaign, Vision Express offered free eye tests to all, prompting the highest number of online bookings in its history and surpassing the record number of bookings achieved for the 2016 campaign. There was a 30% increase in online eye tests booked compared to last year, while website visits were 14% up on this year’s average weekly figures.
