Fewer than 20% of patients seek advice about eye health, according to report

Fewer than 20% of patients seek advice about eye health, according to a pharmacy survey conducted by Bausch + Lomb.

In a study of 88 pharmacists, 77% estimated that just one in five patients consult their pharmacist about eye health issues.

Moreover, it was revealed that 98% of patients fail to recognise when they experience symptoms of dry eye, despite the fact that 88% of pharmacists believe it to be a distressing condition for patients.

Valerie Steiner, OTC marketing manager at Bausch + Lomb, said: ‘This survey shows that patients are failing to tap into the expertise and knowledge that pharmacists have in treating eye conditions like dry eye. This is concerning from a patient perspective as it could lead to unnecessary suffering.’
