​Professional bodies expressed their deepest condolences to the Royal Family

Professional bodies and charities in optics have paid tribute to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II after her death was announced on September 8, 2022.

The Association of Optometrists (AOP) and the College of Optometrists expressed their deepest condolences to the Royal Family. ‘During her 70-year reign, Her Majesty’s dignified service and unshakable integrity have been an inspiration for millions of people across the world,’ the AOP’s statement said.

Sightsavers remembered the support the charity received from the Queen, such as endorsing its work by granting royal status and visiting its headquarters.

The International Association for the Prevention of Blindness said the sight sector was indebted to the Queen for her work in advocating for and advancing universal access to sight.
