Optometrists top earning table

Optometrists were found to earn an average of £18,000 more than their dispensing optician colleagues, according to latest research by Optician.

Average salaries for optometrists were calculated as £45,700, compared to £27,699 for dispensing opticians, with practice managers not included in the calculation.

The findings, from an online survey completed by 440 optometrists, dispensing opticians and contact lens opticians, have been published in Workplace – Careers in Optics, a free supplement with this week’s magazine.
