Nikon Optical announces the release of its new photochromic frames

Lens manufacturer Nikon Optical has announced the release of its new photochromic frames following a debut at Silmo.

Showcasing Nikon’s light-adaptive technology, the Chromalis frames are built from a polyamide material which reacts dynamically to UV light exposure; when exposed to sunlight the transparent rims darken from crystal to anthracite while the temples retain their hue.

Chromalis features five frame styles to choose from, allowing everyone to find a photochromic frame for them. NE0018 is a sleek, minimal frame featuring classically round rims connected by a keyhole-shaped bridge. Slim adjustable nose pads complement the minimal design while providing comfort, and are visually-consistent with the temples which remain transparent as the rims darken.

Transparency in the temples allows for tasteful Nikon branding part of the way along them to be supplemented with visible inlayed temple supports and metal hinges.
