Professional touch

Apologies to Paul Hutchence (Letters, March 24) if he was in any way offended by my letter (March 17). He obviously knows a lot more about web design than most, but the point I was trying to make is that DIY web sites, in the main, look very home-made. While few independents have access to the marketing muscle of the larger groups, the world wide web does offer them an opportunity to present themselves in an equally impressive light. Only when you stop to consider that tomorrow's patient is today's young executive, using the internet on a daily basis to evaluate and research potential clients and suppliers, can you really appreciate the impact and importance of web sites on this group. In my view, the web offers independent practitioners a unique opportunity to present themselves for what they are, a collection of truly dedicated healthcare professionals. An exciting web site can only help promote this fact. Hopefully our solution (www.eyetex-websight.com) will, in time, be remembered as one of the first steps on the web site ladder.
