Refractive first aims to be annual event

David Gartry, the first ophthalmic surgeon in the UK to perform laser refractive surgery, was the main speaker at UltralaseÕs inaugural clinical conference in Nottingham last week.
About 40 optometrists attended the event which, organisers hope, will become an annual meeting place for all professionals involved in Lasik laser eye treatment.
In addition to the speakers, the conference held a Ôwet lab sessionÕ in which optometrists were able to try their hands at making a flap using a microkeratome.
Ultralase technical manager Andy Jarosz said feedback from the conference had been very positive.
