Scope supports future IP optometrists

Three bursary winners received £1,500 each towards IP course fees

Scope Eyecare announced winners of its Independent Prescriber Bursary Awards 2022, who will receive £1,500 each towards their independent prescriber course fees.

Among 70 applications, Ganeshbabu Mahalingam from Bradford-based Apex Eye and Vision Care, Danielle Penney from London-based Coton & Hamblin Opticians, and Faye Matthews from Rochester-based Niall O’Kane Optometrists, were the final winners.

On July 12, eight finalists presented their case studies to the judging panel, which consisted of Sarah Farrant, Louise Madden, Ailbhe Ní Ráighne, and led by Professor Nick Rumney.

Scope commented: ‘The quality of the presentations and content was excellent from everyone on the night, it’s heartening to see the quality and ambition of applicants and how optometry can grow and contribute to patient care.’
