An investigation is ongoing into a serial eyewear thief

An investigation is ongoing into a serial eyewear thief who has targeted optical practices in Scotland with tens of thousands of pounds worth of frames stolen.

BBC Scotland said it had spoken to eight opticians who shared CCTV footage and at least six other practices had frames stolen by a man who matched the description.

The thief, who has a Glaswegian accent, is of stocky build and around 50 years old, would come into the practice, ask for a repair and steal the frames while staff were distracted.
