Shamir: Clear cut polarisation

Lens manufacturer Shamir has announced the rollout of Transitions Xtractive Polarised technology across its lens portfolio.

Xtractive Polarised lenses are clear indoors, darken in a car, and then polarise outdoors to achieve extra darkness. Shamir said the new lenses used a new ‘ultra-fast’ Xtractive dichroic dye that selectively absorbed light waves in one direction for polarisation. Outdoors, the lenses achieved a polarisation efficiency of up to 90%, which Shamir claimed was similar to polarised sunglasses.
