SightCare launches Optimec Visual Fixation System

SightCare has announced the launch of the Optimec Visual Fixation System (VFS) at its annual conference for independent practices.

The VFS has been developed by Simon Berry, an optometrist and Sightcare member from Durham, to help ECPs carry out clinical measurements for children and adults with learning disabilities. The prototype was made with Durham University and licensed to Optimec.

It is to be officially launched at the conference in Telford on September 17.

John French, SightCare CEO, said: ‘We are delighted to be able to support Simon with the launch of his exciting new product which has the potential to help so many children with Down Syndrome to see properly. Simon has combined his entrepreneurial skills… with his experience of paediatric eyecare to bring to life his vision of making this unique product available to all ECPs caring for children with learning disabilities.’
