Luxexcel, the world’s first and only company to 3D print prescription lenses, has announced the strengthening of its leadership team with the goal of providing smart lenses to the growing smart eyewear market.

The company’s 3D printing technology allows componentry such as waveguides, holographic films and LCD screens to be embedded inside a lens without negatively impacting prescription power.

Fabio Esposito, Luxecel’s CEO, said: ‘The benefit for end users is that they no longer need to wear their prescription glasses underneath their smart eyewear goggles. They can now experience both corrective vision and augmented reality in one single product.’
