Specsavers leads online brand awareness

Specsavers has been named as the leading online performer in the glasses retail sector despite a 20% decrease in visibility, according to a new report by digital marketing agency, Inside Online.
The Glasses Retailer Insight Report ranked 49 of the leading websites according to their online performance – measured by analysis of areas including brand reach score, search engine optimisation visibility and link authority score.
Even with the 20% year on year fall, the specsavers.co.uk topped the rankings with 550,000 monthly searches, ahead of visionexpress.com and glassesdirect.co.uk in joint second place with 135,000 brand searches every month. Completing the top five were tescoopticians.com (60,500) and sunglasshut.com (49,500).
The report found the major optician brands had lost visibility share to sites such as lenstore.co.uk, fashioneyewear.co.uk and feelgoodcontacts.com.
