Specsavers has revealed that more than nine out of 10 of its practices now have an RNIB ambassador on the team

Specsavers has revealed that more than nine out of 10 of its practices now have an RNIB ambassador on the team.

This figure has come after the launch of an online course for non-clinical optical colleagues that included eye health, enhanced optical services opportunities and support for customers with visual impairments. The course was devised by optometrists at Specsavers as part of the company’s partnership with RNIB.

Craig Mackenzie, an ophthalmic director in Newport, Wales, said: ‘It’s pitched just at the right level – not too much and not too little information – and everyone that completed it found it really useful.’

Philippa Simkiss, head of partnerships at RNIB, said: ‘It’s been a fantastic partnership experience working together to develop the course. Ambassadors have learnt how to provide great customer experience to people with low vision and refer people to RNIB for more information if they need it.’
