A campaign highlighting the importance of eye protection has been launched by the Association of Optometrists.

The SPF for Your Eyes campaign planned to advise the public to protect their eyes like they protect their skin by wearing CE marked sunglasses in all seasons.

The campaign followed results of the AOP’s recent Voice of Optometry research that showed almost a quarter of AOP members see up to nine patients every month that have an eye disease linked to UV exposure.

AOP clinical editor Ceri Smith-Jaynes said: ‘A key message of the campaign is that UV can also be damaging on dull days.’
