Taiwan doctors find four small sweat bees living inside a woman’s eye

Doctors in Taiwan have found four small sweat bees living inside a woman’s eye.

The 28-year-old woman was weeding her relatives’ graves when the insects flew into her left eye. When her eye was still swollen and painful hours later, she went to seek medical help at a nearby hospital, where doctors pulled insects measuring four millimetres out of her eye by their legs.

Dr Hong Chi Ting, an ophthalmology professor from the Fooyin University Hospital, told the BBC: ‘She couldn't completely close her eyes. I looked into the gap with a microscope and saw something black that looked like an insect leg. I grabbed the leg and very slowly took one out, then I saw another one, and another and another. They were still intact and all alive.’
