Finding the right blend was the theme for Brian Tompkins’ BCLA Presidential Address this week.
Optometrist Tompkins compared the running of a restaurant to running a contact lens practice during the address in London. He compared stocking the right food ingredients with having dailies, monthlies, bespoke lenses and specialist suppliers.
Discussing payment plans, Tompkins used the likeness of an itemised bill, and recommended practitioners were open and transparent about fees and how they are structured, charge for professional services and keep product competitive.
