An audio-focused video game that can be played by people with sight loss has been developed

A student at the University of Abertay in Dundee has developed an audio-focused video game that can be played by people with sight loss.

The game, FHear, is horror-based and involves avoiding an unseen creature in a dark forest by following the sound of a guide.

FHear can be played via audio alone and utilises music and sound design to ratchet up the tension.

Alasdair Marnoch, the game’s creator, has nystagmus. He explained: ‘I’ve always enjoyed playing computer games and have loved learning about how sound and music are used with the computer games industry while at university.’

'I grew up playing the violin and piano so I guess you could say that music has always been a passion of mine.'
