There are concerns about the increasing number of drivers over 70

By the time you read this, the Government should have published a new set of road safety proposals. This is likely to include further guidance on the safety of older drivers and act as a response to raised concerns about the increasing number of drivers in the UK over the age of 70.

Thanks in part to lobbying by groups such as the Association of Optometrists, the responsibility for the individual driver to inform the DVLA of anything that may impact on driving may be one area where change is made. This might be the implementation of compulsory eye testing for the elderly.
