Kit testing for the Seven Sisters sea swim got into full sway at the weekend and I was certainly pleased to be sporting Aqua Sphere Kayenne goggles fitted with a clear lens.
In the short trip from home glorious blue skies had become a bit of a pea-souper but as the mist lifted the water looked almost inviting. The trip was a dress rehearsal for the 2.2mile swim rounding off my sporting challenge to raise money for Blind Veterans UK and my venue was The Surrey Hills Adventure Company’s Buckland Lake.
The sea swimming event takes place on November 4 and requires participants to tow a float to aid visibility, that’s the big orange thing, it doubles up as a bag. The organiser also suggests footwear so just out of shot are some neoprene booties. A bright hat is also specified so for warmth and visibility I opted for a neoprene balaclava-type thing. The last bit of extra kit is swim gloves.
