Simon Jones: Bridge building

By the time you read this, the result of the general election will be known. Whether the result will actually improve the political landscape is unclear, but one thing is certain, the campaign has been a war of attrition.

Institutions like the NHS have always been a political football, but the major parties have ratcheted up the rhetoric over the past month and it has been thoroughly depressing to watch the campaigns and the often-skewed media coverage unfold.

To cheer myself up, I have been looking ahead to 2020 and what it has in store for the profession. Surely in a year when the symbolism of 2020 can be leveraged so positively, there’s nothing on the horizon that could divide the profession?
