Verum: How do we combat the reasons people don’t take regular eye tests?

It would be great to see a public awareness campaign aimed at the groups who are most at risk of poor eye health

The most recent figures available show that there are approximately 19 million NHS and private sight tests conducted each year in England, which has a total population of some 55 million people. At first glance this could suggest that each person has a sight test every three years. However, this assumes everyone has the same habits when it comes to visiting their opticians and we know that this is not the case. Some will have sight tests every six months or year and there will be many who comply with their recommended two yearly visit. Hence there are members of the public who do not have a sight test even every three years and of course we know many in fact never visit the opticians.
