We recently spoke to Specialist Refractive Optometrist Yousuf about his experience joining Optical Express and entering the world of refractive optometry. Before joining the company in March 2021, Yousuf had no previous refractive training. However, thanks to Optical Express’s comprehensive training programme, he was quickly able to develop his skills. Yousuf commented “You’re constantly learning and developing your own skills so that’s what keeps it so interesting. You’re completely welcomed when you start and straight away they teach you everything you need to know. It’s such an easy process.”
“You have the opportunity to change lives”

Not only does this help to make a difference, it also provides Optical Express employees with unique and rewarding experiences. When Yousuf travelled to Lebanon as part of the Gift of Sight charitable project with Jigsaw, a charity who seek to make a positive impact to the lives of those less fortunate, he was supported by Optical Express. Not only was Yousuf given time off diary to go on the trip, but Optical Express also donated over 500 quality frames for him to distribute to visually impaired children in Lebanon.
Speaking about the support Yousuf commented, “I spoke to someone from Head Office who helped me out a lot with frames. She was very interested in my story and where I was going. She replied and told me she was sending 500 frames and I couldn’t believe it. They were nice quality frames which we could use for our charity and honestly, it made such a massive difference.”
“Just go for it”
For Yousuf, joining Optical Express has been an incredible opportunity and he would encourage any of his fellow professionals to follow in his footsteps, “It's a completely different environment, it's not something that you have any knowledge of. But, once you’re here, you're welcomed. You have the support, you have all the technology, you have everything you need to help and it just puts you at ease.
