OutsideClinic: More time with the kids

OutsideClinic introduced flexible hours as a solution to improve work-life balance

Work-life balance can be a struggle for parents

We understand that as a parent you often have to make difficult decisions about juggling family life with your career. Wouldn’t it be great to have the best of both worlds - time at home with the family and a fantastic, rewarding optometry career? It’s often impossible to find that balance in a job, especially on the high street. That's why we started to look at ways in which we could offer you the chance to continue progressing in your career without sacrificing special moments with your family.

Our solution? We introduced flexible working hours.

School hours contract

Kiran Matharu, a Super Optometrist who has worked with OutsideClinic for over 7 years, has a little boy and she says that the work-life balance has been one of the best things about her role as a Super Optometrists. For two days a week she gets to do school drop-offs and pick-ups.

Kiran says, ‘It means I can be mum and an optometrist.’ She gets to spend time at home with her kids taking them to football and other activities, as well as being there on the weekends rather than at work.

Our school hours contract means that you can start your working day once you’ve dropped your children to school and you can even finish earlier so you can be the one waiting at the school gates when the bell rings, ready to take them home.

Have the school holidays off

But what about the kids’ school holidays? Isn’t it a nightmare having to use up your annual leave for part of it, arrange and pay for childcare for the rest? What if you could have the option of working only when the kids are in school and have the same holiday schedule as they do?

At OutsideClinic, we thought it would be a good idea to help parents deal with this dilemma, so we extended our flexible hours offering to include the option of term-time contracts. It means that you don't have to worry about childcare arrangements or additional costs to cover this and most importantly, you get to spend that quality time being there for them, maybe even take a long summer holiday abroad! Don’t have kids but have a partner who works in a school? Then this is for you too!

NEW: £10,000 welcome bonus

We are so passionate about growing our community of optometrists to better serve our patients at home who cannot attend the high street, that we are now offering a huge welcome bonus of £10,000 to any optometrist who joins OutsideClinic – terms and conditions apply.

Since our takeover by Optimism Health Group, we are striving to grow rapidly and ensure excellent training and rewards are provided to our Optometrists. You are, after all, the ones who will be making a massive impact to the lives of the vulnerable patients we provide home eye care to. So why not see what domiciliary is all about?
