Shortlists have now been drawn up for the 2011 Optician Awards and 16 trophies will be presented to the winners at a Strictly Come Dancing-style black tie awards ceremony at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole on April 9.
Last week 30 judges, split into panels of four, sifted through 200 entries to pick out the very best UK optics has on offer. More than 50 practices, professionals and products made it to the shortlists and are in the running to scoop an Optician Awards trophy.
The presentation will be staged in front of around 500 optical folk on the Saturday evening of the Optrafair weekend. Anyone is welcome to attend the event which will start with a drinks reception and a first-class three-course meal. Between courses our specially selected couples will compete in a Strictly-style dance off in front of our celebrity judges. After dinner, guests will be entertained with a stunning audio visual show before our celebrity host presents the awards. Once the trophies have been presented there will be an after show party sponsored by Maui Jim and a charity casino which will raise money for Returning Vision (News 11.02.11).
