Shortlists for the 2007 Optician Awards have been drawn up following a busy judging day at the Optician offices.

Shortlists for the 2007 Optician Awards have been drawn up following a busy judging day at the Optician offices.

Eight categories in all were judged by individual panels of four judges. Separate panels will judge a further two categories soon.

In the Applied Spectacle Technology Practice of the Year sponsored by Optovision the shortlisted practices are Webb & Lucas of Stafford, Kelly Eyecare of Brockenhurst and The King's Cross Eyecare Clinic, London.

In the Optical Product of the Year category four companies were shortlisted: Bluesky Optical, CIBA Vision, Johnson & Johnson Vision Care and Essilor.

On the shortlist in the Freshlook Optical Assistant of the Year Award sponsored by CIBA Vision are Carmel Sanders of Goodlooking Optics in Enfield, Joan Twyford from Boots Opticians in Staines, Debbie Dobson of Boots in Lincoln, Archana Boga of Special Eyes, Glasgow and Deborah Bruce of Hughes, Macdonald and Davidson, Aberdeen.

In the Healthy Sight Practice of the Year Award sponsored by Transitions on the shortlist are Keith Holland & Associates, Cheltenham, Optomise Eyecare, Newtownards, Co Down, Seen Opticians, Manchester and Webb & Lucas, Stafford.

In the Charity Campaign of the Year Award sponsored by The Outside Clinic there were four on the shortlist: Dollond & Aitchison for its Moorfields campaign, Saving Sight in Grampian, 4 Sight (West Sussex Association for the Blind) and The Friends of Moorfields.

The three shortlisted DOs in the Outstanding Dispensing Optician of the Year Award sponsored by BBGR are: Kelly Carr of Nethercott Opticians, Tadworth, Parminder Bhachu of the King's Cross Eye Clinic and Sarah Thomas of Webb & Lucas Optometrists, Stafford.

In the Software Practice of the Year Award sponsored by Ocuco Relcon just two practices made it to the shortlist: The King's Cross Eye Clinic and Kathryn Stott Optometrists.

Shortlists for the Independent Practice Website of the Year sponsored by Essilor, The Contribution to CET Award sponsored by Dollond & Aitchison and the Practice Technology Award sponsored by Grafton Optical will be announced next week.
