The value of the coloured contact lens market in the UK is currently £9 million. However, the UK market has a relatively low penetration for this lens type at only 1 per cent of new soft, daily wear lens fits compared with up to 11 per cent in other countries.
Forty eight per cent of females in the age group 16-24 and 46 per cent of males say they would like to try contact lenses that changed the colour of their eyes.A survey in the US indicates that 88 per cent of women are interested in tinted contact lenses and 75 per cent who try them go on to buy them.
