The nose pads on spectacle frames are a common area for frame breakage. We describe the considerations that went into a repair we performed recently that makes use of replacement parts easily acquired from optical accessory manufacturers.

A 12-year-old female patient of ours presented with broken nose pads on a frame we dispensed to her about six months previously. We recall that at that visit, the patient’s previous plastic frames were uncomfortable, sat low on her face, and left notches in the sides of her nose because of pinching caused by ill-fitting nose pads.
