Patient presentation

A new patient attends your practice and elects to have an OCT examination as part of an extended eye examination. She reports having lost central vision in the right eye due to ‘macular disease’ at the age of 52. The patient is now 87 years old. Right visual acuity is counting fingers, left Snellen acuity is 6/9 and she is not complaining of current visual problems. No distortion in the left eye can be observed with Amsler charts.
