Cloud can help business fly high

Aside from a very brief stint at a fish and chip shop round the corner from my childhood home, my entire working life has been in optics. I stumbled across this remarkable industry by chance at 16 years old when, despite a limited range of options at the Job Centre, I was offered a job as a lab technician at a busy high street opticians. Something about the white lab coat appealed and although it looked the same as my uniform at ‘the chippy’, here the similarities ended. While the practical and technical elements of this job were enjoyable, I found myself reaching out onto the dispensing floor where I was promoted to various management roles and later qualified as a dispensing optician.
