Why would you do that? Money and flexibility are the two big benefits. I have read claims that British business stands to save over £20bn by 2015 using the cloud. To me that reads like a 'prove me wrong' figure, but there clearly are big savings to be had. Small businesses, in particular, see the opportunity to buy into processes that they had believed to be beyond their price range. Essentially, with the cloud you're buying a service, not a product. It's rather like the difference between buying a car and renting a car. Moreover, a lot of software comes in one size and it's massively more capable than small businesses want. You end up paying for three courses when all you wanted was a starter.
