
This week saw a number of positive milestones. No new cases reported in South Korea, continuing relaxation of restrictions throughout China, and the reintroduction of some essential non-Covid services (such as oncology) by the NHS. Better yet, access to testing for the virus is at last improving in the UK. The pressure to move out of lockdown is significant, but will have to be modified by accurate measures of infection rates and improvements in patient management. A sobering thought is that effective lockdown maintains a large population who have not had COVID-19 and therefore are vulnerable to infection. Here are a few relevant points from this week
