Optician’s series on female creatives in the eyewear industry continues with Zoe Cosby interviewing Danielle Rattray

Founder and creative director, Danielle Rattray grew up in the north-east of Scotland surrounded by strong women and a big boisterous family. Her eyewear designs are renowned for their bold shapes, confident use of colour and trademark romance-meets-rock aesthetic, which very much stems from an indelible passion for music and fashion.

She spent most of her youth bouncing between London and Scotland with the likes of Oasis, Blur, the Cure, the Smiths, and the Stone Roses coursing through her veins. After studying graphic design at the Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design in Dundee she decided to start her first clothing label, ‘No Love Lost’, moving into accessories by 2012. It was at this time that she started to assist her long-time design partner, Scott Lewis in the eyewear development.
