The optical exhibition market in the UK today is best described as congested. Two exhibitions per year within a few months of each other can make things difficult for exhibitors and attendees.
The optical exhibition landscape in the seventies was markedly different, as the leader column in the November 7 issue of Optician from 1975 shows.
It was the opinion of the writer at the time that a body representing the industry in the UK should periodically organise an exhibition. However, frequency was a contentious issue, because of the cost and amount of organisation involved.
