Last week’s Echoes of the Past retrospective looked at how the UK optical exhibition sector of the 1970s was being reported in Optician. The theme continued the following week in the November 14 edition from 1975, with an interesting exposé.
Nine unnamed optical firms which attended the International Ophthalmic Trade Fair at the Alexandra Palace were asked to state their costs and reveal what business was brought in by their attendance.
Optician believed at the time that optical exhibitions should be more cost effective and organised by professional bodies within the profession.
